Author(s): Suwarna Deshpande and D. K. Kulkarni

Traditional farming techniques have been evolved by wisdom of tribal communities. Gondia tribe from Vidarbha
region has been cultivating tubers of Zinger, Alu and Turmeric by traditional ways, which protects soil erosion,
increases soil fertility, controls pest and diseases, reduce devapo-transmission rate and controls weeds in the fields.
This wisdom needs to be propagated in modern agriculture for eco-friendly cultivation of tuberous crops
