Abstract

Thin layer chromatography separation study of certain metal cations with mixture of urea formaldehyde & cellulose as stationary phase system

Various heavy metal ions such as Fe³⁺,Cu²⁺,VO²⁺,UO₂²⁺,Ni²⁺,Co²⁺, Ag⁺& Cr⁶⁺ have been chromatographed on thin layer of mixture of urea-formaldehyde & cellulose. SDS, urea & thiourea in in different concentration, ratios & at different pH used as mobile phases. Semiquantitative determination of UO₂²⁺ & Fe³⁺ by visual comparison of colour intensities & by spot–area measurement method has been attempted.
