The relationship between social wellbeing and job satisfaction in nurses

Almost in all countries, the main manpower health system is nursing. Lack of job satisfaction is one of the factors that leave negative effects on nursing profession. Jobs can have a positive or negative effect on health. This study aimed to determine the association between social wellbeing and job satisfaction among nurses. This study was cross- sectional conducted in 2015. The study population consisted of staff nurses working in all hospitals located in Hamedan, Iran. We invited a convenience sampling of 300 practicing nurses to respond to the Keyes’s Social wellbeing Questionnaire and job satisfaction Questionnaire with Cronbach's alpha coefficient of 85%. The sample size was estimated error margin of five percent and ninety percent CI. The quantitative analysis of this study was carried out through the Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS). The results showed that Nurses’ mean score of social well-being was 43.88±9.18 and Nursing Job Satisfaction was 49.06±13.04. Social well-being was significantly related to job satisfaction in Nurses (r = 0.37 PÃ?â?¹Ã?â??0.001). Social well-being of nurses reported Low, Average, Good And Very Good 36.1(110), 48.4(147), 15.5(43) And 0% (0) Respectively and Nursing Job Satisfaction reported Low, Average, Good And Very Good 36.5(111), 31.6(96), 29.4 (86) and 2.5 (7) Respectively. Nurses’ social well-being deserves special attention. Effective social well-being promotion strategies should be considered for promoting their social well-being particularly in Job Satisfaction.
