Ewe (plant), as it is normally being called among the indigenous Yoruba people, is highly distinct and peculiar to their healing system and culture. Besides, the essence of plants and the knowledge of their usage as medicinal plants in Yoruba therapeutic system can only be unfolded if profoundly explored. Thus the sayings, nkan ti a fi pamo ti a we, la n pe ni ewe, meaning, plants constitute embedded indigenous knowledge that have not been unfolded or discovered. However, in view of the overabundance nature of plants and the World Health Organization (WHO)'s affirmation of the medicinal importance of plants across the world, it becomes more mandatory to unveil these hidden facts as a way of finding more groundbreaking cure to the innumerable diseases existing in world or even, preventing their outbreak. This paper, therefore, brings to the fore, the sources of natural medicinal plants especially among indigenous Yoruba in Nigeria.
