The methanolic extract of the roots of the plant, Rumex acetosa yielded one known compound, pulmatin (1-O-β-Dglucopyranosyl chrysophanol, 1). The structure of compound has been established based on its physical and spectral data (UV, IR, 1H & 13C NMR, 2D NMR and Mass).
