Numbers of Annona species are cultivated throughout the tropical countries of the world for their many seeds, fleshy, composite, edible fruits. Besides the fleshy pulp of the fruit posing good nutritive value, the other part of the tree like leaves, flowers, seeds etc. are reported to posses certain medicinal properties also. Literature survey reverted the reports on investigation on some species of Annona like A.squamosa , A.reticulata etc. However, references were not available on the species of A.muricata; commonly known as soursop or prickly custard apple, hence the seeds of it were selected for the present investigation, being easily available plenty in good conditions. The present paper deals with the detailed macroscopic, microscopic and physio-chemical evaluation of seeds of A.muricata. that shows the characters which will be helpful for better identification and standardization of Annona muricata seeds.
