The enzyme cellulase is produced by utilizing contemptible substrates like rice bran and corn straw supplanted with
nutrient sources in Solid State Fermentation using the fungal strain Trichoderma reesei (MTCC *164). A
fermentation time of 6 days is required to obtain maximum Cellulase and Ž²-glycosidase activity. The activity
decreases with further increase in fermentation period. The optimum rice bran- corn straw ratio, pH and
temperature for maximum production of Cellulase are found to be 5:5, 5 and 28Ã?â??Ã?°C respectively. The crude enzyme is
partially purified by Ammonium sulphate Precipitation, Dialysis and finally Ion Exchange Chromatography. The
effect of temperature, pH and substrate concentration were also studied in the purified sample and the optimum
condition for enzyme activity is found to be pH 5.0, temperature 50Ã?â??Ã?° C.
