Abstract

IRI-2007 foF2 predictions at Ouagadougou station during quiet time periods from 1985 to 1995

Author(s): Frédéric OUATTARA

This study treated the comparison between Ouagadougou station F2 layer critical frequency (foF2) data and the two subroutines CCIR and URSI of IRI-2007 foF2 predictions. Comparisons are made during quiet time period for the four solar cycle phases (minimum, increasing, maximum and decreasing) of solar cycle 22 and took into account different seasons (winter, spring, summer and autumn). Model predictions showed good agreement with observed data. The accuracy is the best during solar minimum phase and the worst during solar decreasing phase. During solar maximum and decreasing phases, IRI-2007 does not express the signature of ExB for this sector.
