K, Al, Ni doped PEG mediated SnO2 has been successfully synthesized by using hydrothermal method. The as synthesized product was characterized with X-Ray powder diffratometer (XRD), UV-Vis absorption spectrophotometer (UV-Vis), Photoluminescence spectroscopy (PL), Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM). The results show the particle size of Al doped PEG mediated SnO2 is below 10 nm, while that of K and Ni doped SnO2 samples is over 15 and 22nm indicating that the introduction of Al can effectively prevent SnO2 from further growing up in the process of calcinations. The UV absorption edges exhibit a blue shift, which can be attributed to the quantum confinement effect in the prepared samples. The emission spectra exhibit two sharp peaks at around 400 and 430 nm. Significant morphological changes were observed from TEM analysis.
