Author(s): Bangeppagari Manjunatha, Gundala Harold Philip

Chlorpyrifos is an organophosphate pesticide widely used in agriculture and aquaculture. This study investigated its effects on histopathology of zebrafish (Danio rerio) liver. For this six adult male and six adult female zebrafish were exposed to 200 μg/L of chlorpyrifos for 24h, 48h, 72h and 96hrs. Chlorpyrifos toxicity on liver histopathological changes were examined by light microscopy. Structural damage spotted in the liver were vacuolization and presence of sinusoid spaces were observed. The present study indicated that chlorpyrifos causes histopathological damage in liver tissue.
