Abstract

Development of new simple and economic validated RP-HPLC method for the determination of famciclovir in bulk and tablet dosage

A simple sensitive and isocratic RP HPLC method was developed for the determination of Famciclovir in bulk and tablet dosage form. The method development was carried out using Phenomenex, 250x4.6mm, 5μ column and mobile phase of methanol: water (60:40)v/v with the flow rate of 1ml/min, the UV detector wavelength was adjusted to 221nm. The retention time of the drug was found to be 2.7 min. The detector response was linear in the concentration range of 5-20μg/ml. The limit of detection and limit of Quantitation was found 0.433 and 1.31 μg/ml respectively. The developed method was validated as by accuracy, linearity, precision, sensitivity. All the validated parameters are within limit. The proposed method was found to be a simple, economic, fast, accurate and precise and hence can be used for the routine analysis of Famciclovir in bulk and tablet dosage form.
