Nanomaterials based on noble metallic nanoparticles silver and gold have a lot of application in biomedicine like drug targeting and delivery, biocidal agents, clinical imaging and their synergistic activity with diverse antibiotics. Because of their wide application, it is necessary to study non target effect and biocompatibility. In the present study, cytoxicity of silver and gold nanoparticles loaded azithromycin and ofloxacin (AgNp-AZ,OF and AuNps-AZ,OF) drug nano conjugate against human peripheral blood cells was carried out under in vitro condition. Respective drug nano conjugate was prepared by reduction of metal precursor with reducing agent, chitosan mediated stabilization along the respective antibiotics Characterization studies revealed synthesized drug conjugates were in nanodimension and specific interaction with functional group of polymer and antibiotics. Cytotoxicity study showed complete absence of cytotoxicity against blood cells under in vitro condition. Morphological changes and lysis of blood cells was not observed at none of the nano drug conjugate treatment.
