Abstract

Changes in ATPase and IAA oxidase activity in vegetable plants under the influence of methylparathion and phosphamidon

Author(s): V. S. Shirashyad and M. B. Kanade

Changes in ATPase and IAA oxidase activity in vegetable plants viz. onion, okra, bean and guar under the influence
of Methylparathion and Phosphamidon were studied in the present investigation. Stimulatory activity of ATPase has
been observed in Methylparathion treated bean seeds. However, no significant changes due to both pesticidal
treatments have been observed in okra and onion. An enhanced activity of IAA oxidase was noticed in okra and
onion, whereas, there were slight changes in the activity of this enzyme in bean and guar germinating seeds.
However, phosphamidon treatment in guar recorded a drastic decrease in the activity of this enzyme.
