The presence of natural antioxidants in plants is well known. This paper reports the antioxidative and antimicrobial properties of Paeoniamascula (L.) MILL. aqueous extract. Antioxidant activity was assayed by the DPPH radical scavenging and reducing power tests, however, in the antimicrobial activity, the extracts were tested against bacterial strains (Staphylococcus aureus ATCC25923, Escherichia coli ATCC 25922 and Salmonella typhimurium ATCC 13311) and fungi (Aspergillusniger2CA936, Aspergillus flavius NRRL3357 and Candida albicans ATCC1024). Our results exhibit a high antioxidant and antimicrobial activities.
