Abstract

Antibacterial and antifungal evaluation of Mannich bases of 2,4-thiazolidinedione and rhodanine

Author(s): Archana Kapoor and Neha Khare

A series of mannich bases of thiazolidinedione and rhodanine were synthesized and characterized. The synthesized compounds were screened for their antibacterial and antifungal potential against gram positive bacteria: Staphylococcus aureus, Bacillus subtilis and gram negative bacteria: Escherichia coli and fungal strains C.albicans and A. niger by in-vitro serial dilution method. Compound MB05 (pMIC 2.3 μM/ml) found to be the most effective antibacterial agent among the synthesized derivatives it has shown the highest antibacterial activity against B.subtilis. MB02 (pMIC 2.28 μM/ml) displayed highest anti-fungal activity against C. albicans among the synthesized derivatives.
