Antibacterial activity of volatile oil of Tanacetum longifolium from western Himalayan region of Uttrakhand, India

The genus Tanacetum, commonly known as tansy and traditionally, T. longifolium is used in preparation of incense and fragrant materials by the local inhabitants in Uttarakhand. The in vitro antibacterial activities of the essential oils were evaluated against a total of six bacteria,viz, Salmonellatyphi, Klebsiellapneumoniae, E.coli, Staphylococcusaureus, Streptococcusmutans, Bacillussubtilis.
