Synthesis and antimicrobial activity of some novel thiazolidinone derivatives

Ethylchloroacetate and hydrazine hydrate were reacted with substituted aldehydes to get the corresponding substituted N-benzylidine-2-chloro acetohydrazides, which were further condensed with succinimide to get corresponding subsituted N-benzylidine-2-(2,5-dioxo pyrrolidin-1-yl) acetohydrazides. These compounds were cyclized with thioglycollic acid to get the corresponding thiazolidinone derivatives, which have been evaluated for their antimicrobial activity.
